Tax disc end

UK Road Tax Disc …. resigned to history

1st of October marks the end of the paper tax disc, since 1921 this icon has been a feature of our windscreen now to be replaced by police cameras and computers.

Seller’s of a car can no longer pass the tax on with the sale. The road tax no longer belongs to the car but instead belongs to us personally so we need to inform DVLA immediately of the new ownership to reclaim any Road Tax.

The buyer of a car needs to tax the car from time of purchase.

The system has been updated to allow a variety of payment options through the post office or direct debit annually or for a 5% charge biannually and monthly direct debit.

The changes will save DVLA an estimated £10 million a year and help reduce untaxed vehicles on the road.
