WHAT IS THE “MINI” PANAFRICA
The Mini Pan-Africa is a representation of the Pan-Africa 2014, a course for those who want to learn and hone skills to participate in the Pan-Africa Rally. The mini Pan-Africa is a meeting between novices, experts and the organisation to hold simulated navigation tests with the same concept as that used Pan-Africa raid in Morocco …
Of course vehicles, endurance, and driving skills will all be tested.
HISTORY OF THE PAN-AFRICA RALLY
The 1st Pan-Africa born in 1995
It was a pioneering event and based on the least distance to classify participants … unfortunately the first GPS were not up to the hardness of the African race … for this reason we had to postpone the event for years to have about the technologies necessary for the proper development of the test.
The year 2006 gave as kick-off, it was a real trial adventure, but unfortunately the response of trialeros was much lower than expected, so far from giving Philip went on calling for the following year a trial for motorcycles and quads together with an enduro, for motorcycles and buggies. In both cases, navigation and adventure was the same, but while in the trial were sorting the penalties in areas in the enduro did time on short timed sections.
Participation increased but it was a test widely accepted, although the organization was not looking for a massive test not to exceed its limitations. In 2008, the Trial Division and remained with Enduro motorcycles in addition to the quads and buggies, but although participation increased gradually it seemed not quite to jell with fans. The trialeros sought a purer trial and enduro raid more speed navigation. This would be the last year with the original concept.
So for 2009 there was a new change, creating a much broader concept, and not divided into trial and enduro, but navigation and enduro.
The Pan-Africa navigation proved a success, so for 2010 again changed things. The Pan-Africa was unified in a senior level test and would only be a competition of skill and navigation, greatly extending its rally from Nador to Erfoud, instead of reasoning only stages around Erfoud. All without leaving the original idea of the test, ie safe adventure, based on skill and not on speed now had all kinds of categories of vehicles, dirt bikes, enduro or trail, quads, buggies, cars and even trucks. Any vehicle was valid for a team to prove better navigation with GPS and the difficulties of travel, to arrive not in the least time if traveling the fewest miles. Certainly he was no longer a trial, but an adventure in which a trial bike had many chances to win. Philip had finally found the right path, inscriptions improved despite the current crisis and the charm of Pan-Africa increased markedly.
Yet the Pan-Africa 2011 was marked by a second stage of 500 km that made clear to participants that this competition is not exactly a tour of the desert. The difficulty and hardness of the day favored the fittest participants who were most successful when it comes to make a difference on the ground. The philosophy of Pan-Africa is simple: the shortest distance between two points is always a straight line. The problem is to draw a line in Morocco without having wadis, rocks, desert dunes and esplanades on your route involves many other difficulties too. Thus, winners arrive from point A to point B within the time limit the shortest distance covered. The final results, with differences of hundred meters after 2,000 kilometers, also show that “it is impossible not to make mistakes, and that mistakes made can not be solved simply by giving gas, because the maximum speed is limited to 80 km / h “according to the event organizer Philip Flirt.
2012 and 2013 brought two novelties in Pan-Africa, performing loops around a base that allows for greater relaxation and economy participants and organization but with a twist, for the first time in the history of Pan-Africa point a daytime double stage was conducted and night.
