You will need to be self-sufficient and be able to sleep in your car or tent, provide your own fuel and food. The start of your journey is prearranged but from there on you need to rely on your information pack and skills to reach the finish line. The routes can be spread across 400-1000 miles through both days and nights with varying fun challenges and test on route. All routes usually finish in Cheshire for the final night Award Ceremony Dinner and stay in a hotel room all included in the £150 entry fee.
The first challenge raised £8,000.00 from just 8 teams and has grown from strength to strength with each passing year raising over a 1 million pound to date. Unfortunately there are not many people who haven’t been touched by cancer today and Macmillan Cancer Support provides a valuable service for families and sufferers alike. We spoke to Mark Birkitt and Roger Charlesworth of the Cheshire Land Rover Club (Team Gruffalo) at the Donington 4X4 Show where they were raising funds and awareness for the 2015 challenge. If you want to donate to the cause you can use their Justgiving Page on Just giving or follow the general 4×4 banter on ‘The Mac 4×4’ face book page.
Thanks to Mark & Roger for your information. Good luck to all involved.
