Ssangyong’s UK division have revealed the new DMZ limited edition Korando Sport, featuring the military look camo paint work, roof rails and 18 inch wheels, (DMZ – standing for De-Militarised Zone, the area between North and South Korea)
SX models get 18-inch alloys, tinted windows, air-conditioning, USB and Bluetooth connectivity and a leather steering wheel. Go for EX and you get heated seats, powered door mirrors and parking sensors, too.
Mechanically the same, the DMZ is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 155PS and 360Nm of torque between 1,500rpm and 2,800rpm. Fuel economy combined sits at an acceptable 37.7mpg and on-demand four-wheel drive.
The Korando Sports pickup now offers a coil spring multilink rear suspension instead of the leaf spring dated option given by some manufacturers, giving the pickup a better character for road use.
The rear load-bed offers enough space to take a standard euro pallet with a payload rating of one ton and a towing capacity of up to 2.7 ton. Ssangyong also offer customers a range of load bed weather and security covers to protect their goods.
Pricing starts at £19,195 (plus VAT) for the DMZ Ltd Edition, and regular models start from £14,495 (plus VAT). All in, this makes the Korando Sport the cheapest new double cab pickup you can buy in the UK today.
