For all you Suzuki fans out there, the auto maker has unveiled their latest mini SUV 4×4 … the Ignis, and the more rugged variant is the Ignis Trail concept expected to go on sale in 2017.
However, all you Suzuki mud pluggers out there do not despair, Suzuki promis us the Ignis is not going to replace the much loved Jimny. The Jimny as we know it is expected to run until 2018, when it is due to be replaced by a new model showcasing a fresh look but relying on a the no nonsense, mud eating mix of a ladder chassis and permanent four-wheel drive with the low range grunt.
The new Suzuki Ignis was previewed by an earlier concept at the 2015 Geneva motor show called ‘iM-4’. The new Ignis will join the Suzuki Celerio city car at the lower end of the company’s range, with only the Fiat Panda 4×4 giving any serious competition. As like the Panda, the new Suzuki will be offered with both two and four wheel drive options. Under the bonnet will be the Suzuki fuel frugal 1.2ltr Dualjet petrol engine. Suzuki hasn’t ruled out offering mild and full hybrid powertrains too.
