One of the bad guy’s Defender from the 2015 James Bond film Spectre is up for sale. How much do they want? No idea, and they don’t know, so it’s going under the hammer on 6th September. If you take a google around, you can find top copies asking £69k !!
The 2014 Land Rover Defender 110 Crew Cab was seriously modified for it’s role in the James Bond flick, and to give them their due, the baddies had good taste in vehicles.
There were ten ‘Spectre’ Defenders built for the film, eight of which have wound up in private hands. And presumably, this one will follow. With 234km only on the clock, this one was just used for drive by filming, sustaining no damage.
Built at the Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) centre, what is the performance and bespoke arm for all Jags and Landies off the auto makers line. These are the guys responsible for putting together all of the really special cars, like the Jaguar F-Type SVR and Range Rover SVR, both of which sport the awesome 5.0 litre supercharged V8.
None of that here, just the 2.4ltr ‘Puma’ diesel engine has been ticked up to around 138kW and 500Nm. That extra power would be no-doubt handy for turning those 37-inch Maxxis Trepador tyres held on by beadlocks and chunky arches to help fit in the aggressive rubber.
The suspension has also been modified enough to accommodate the tyres. There’s a well-regarded Safety Devices external roll-cage, along with some Lightforce LED 180 driving lights mounted on the roof. The Land Rover plastic bull-bar has a Warn Zeon winch mounted up, along with some hipster-spec rope to complete the look.
The Defender’s interior isn’t too special, except for the leather Recaro seats that support a four-point harness.
By the way, it’s left-hand drive, otherwise, it’s in pretty spectacular nick, going by the photos.
The auction house selling this SVX Defender is Sotheby’s;
