New Range Rover model … to be revealed

If the automotive media rumour mill is to believed we could be seeing a new Range Rover model revealed at the Geneva motor show this year.

Talk of the model is a mid size SUV to slot between the Evoke and Range Rover Sport, christened the Velar.rangesportcpe-j4

Autocar states that it will probably be the Range Rover Sport Coupe, based on the JaguarF-Pace platform, and using the same V6 and inline 4 engines. Autocar however, does say that the V6 engines will eventually be replaced by the company’s upcoming inline 6 engine and that it could even feature a V8.
Autocar doesn’t indicate their source in the report, but the existence of the Land Rover prototype lends credence to the rumor. There is roughly a £19,500 gap between the Evoque and Range Rover Sport and the size difference between the Evoque and Sport is quite significant.
We’ll all know more in about a month when the Geneva motor show kicks off.rr-velar1
