If the automotive media rumour mill is to believed we could be seeing a new Range Rover model revealed at the Geneva motor show this year.
Talk of the model is a mid size SUV to slot between the Evoke and Range Rover Sport, christened the Velar.
Autocar states that it will probably be the Range Rover Sport Coupe, based on the JaguarF-Pace platform, and using the same V6 and inline 4 engines. Autocar however, does say that the V6 engines will eventually be replaced by the company’s upcoming inline 6 engine and that it could even feature a V8.
Autocar doesn’t indicate their source in the report, but the existence of the Land Rover prototype lends credence to the rumor. There is roughly a £19,500 gap between the Evoque and Range Rover Sport and the size difference between the Evoque and Sport is quite significant.
We’ll all know more in about a month when the Geneva motor show kicks off.
