Nissan has finalized an €80 million (£ 59 million) investment at its plant in Barcelona to retool the assembly line for the production of the new Navara Pick up truck.
Nissan trusts the quality of the new NP300 Navara so much that it decided to make its first light commercial vehicle with a 5-year warranty, this will strike a good note to many commercial operators.
The contribution of Nissan’s Spanish team to the new pickup also includes the manufacture of parts including steering knuckles, brake discs and drums at the company’s Catalonian plant.
With the expertise of the team in Spain and a totally modernised production line in Barcelona, an extended five year warranty, the new Navara is further evidence that Nissan quality has never been better, explained a spokesman for Nissan Europe.
Production of the new Nissan NP300 Navara in Barcelona will be followed by new one ton pickups for both Renault and Mercedes with all three models to share the same build platform.
The Spanish plant has the capacity to build around 120,000 vehicles per annum for all three brands. When maximum capacity is reached, Nissan estimates 1,000 new positions will be created at the facility.
