Merc G Wagon … Edition 35 to celebrate 35 years

Mercedes Benz will be celebrating 35 years of production for the well loved G Wagon this year.

The very first Gelandewagens were originally intended as pure utility trucks, robust and more than capable for military use, later gaining a luxury image and competed against the earlier Range Rovers.

Today the trucks are one of the most tweaked vehicles on the market with plenty of specialised options provided by the manufacturer and custom versions provided by aftermarket coachbuilders.

To celebrate the 35 years, Mercedes are to produce an Edition 35 for the European market.

the special run offers an exterior choice of white or silver metallic colours, black metallic for the wheel arches, roof, bumpers and mirrors. The limited-edition truck will sport modern 18 inch, five spoke, alloy wheels finished in black.

All the Edition 35 trucks will be completed with the Sport package, which consists of AMG wheel-arch flares and a sport exhaust system for the G500 version. The Edition 35 trucks will be offered only with G350 Bluetec diesel or G500 engines with the latter being powered by a 5.5 litre naturally aspirated V8 engine. All Edition 35 trucks will also come with the chrome package, which will add chrome highlights for the grille, the surrounds on the seat switch panels, the loudspeakers and the door sill on the rear cargo compartment.
