JLR are believed to have placed an offer to purchase the iconic race circuit at Silverstone for their new global HQ.
An offer of £22.7 million has been reportedly mentioned to gain the track adding to the JLR empire.
The British automaker would then invest the equivalent of £40 million to turn the historic track into a celebration of the brand, including a museum, experience center, and hotel. The company would also build areas for its marketing team and engineering department. Motorsports would still continue there, too, which means the course’s Formula One legacy is safe.
With a history of motor sport dating back to the 1940’s, championships still include the British F1 Grand Prix, Moto GP and the FIA World Endurance Championship. Silverstone would be a jewel in the JLR crown with the future prospect of many Jaguars and Land Rovers pounding the circuit.
As yet JLR or Silverstone have confirmed the rumours, although the BRDC have confirmed they have had several confidential offers to buy the circuit.
