Iveco unveiled their new 4×4 Eurocargo truck earlier this month in Germany. The truck will prove a hit with utility companies and provide an excellent chassis cab for off road conversion specialists for support trucks or camper bodies.
The Eurocargo 4×4 on displayed was a 15 tonne designed for off-road work, and is available with day or sleeper cabs in 11.5 or 15 tonne gvw versions with wheelbases ranging from 3,240 to 4,150 mm.
Power plant choices are the Tector 7 engine delivering 220 or 250bhp in the 11.5-tonne version, or 250 or 280bhp for the 15-tonner – all with Iveco’s SCR (selective catalytic reduction) and passive DPF (diesel particulate filter).
The rest of the driveline comprises ZF six-speed manual gearboxes with a servoshift system complemented by permanent four-wheel drive with a longitudinal differential and fast or slow ratio selection plus three diff locks.
Off-road protection features include steel bumpers, retractable access steps and a tough new radiator guard – and the new 4×4 is also equipped with a front towing jaw while a PTO is also available.
Incidentally, the steering angle (ranging from 40 to 48 degrees, depending on tyres) means the 4×4 Eurocargo should work well on urban roads, not just off-road.
