Defender Celebration Line tours … at Land Rover

In this final year of the Defender, Land Rovers latest offering to the fiesta of the icon is the Defender Celebration Line.
Last week the JLR group opened the doors to the public and announced the opening of the reproduced land-rover-celebration-line1948 Series 1 production line. The new attraction is within the original buildings and part of the Defender production line tour for the public in the Solihull plant. The display has been painstakingly recreated to every authentic detail from parts to the work clothing of which visitors will be asked to wear.
The curator of the famous Dunsfold Collection of Land Rovers and Land Rover vehicle restorer Phil Bashall was heavily involved in the project to source the old components to reconstruct the production line and admitted “It’s been a struggle at times, but a real labour of love to source all of the original parts needed for vehicles that stopped production so many years ago.”
John Edwards, JLR Heritage Director said, “Land Rover has a rich heritage based around the Series I celebration-defender-lineand Defender models, and we wanted to create something extra special that would give visitors and enthusiasts a unique insight into how it all started back in 1948.
It has been a huge task to recreate a production line from almost 70 years ago, from sourcing original parts for the Series I models, to authentically re-creating the working environment and uniform of employees who were here. The team involved has been meticulous in their research, planning and creation of what is a fitting tribute to the legendary heritage of Land Rover.”
If you would like to experience the Defender Celebration Line, the tour cost is £45p.p. to book call                     +44 (0) 121700 4619
