Camp Defender … a Turkish Delight

World wide people build vehicles to suit their needs, from Elazığ, in Turkey comes one of the most stunning camper projects we have seen built onto a Defender.

With a base vehicle Defender 110, Mehmet Yıldız built this awesome truck from the chassis up. The camper has 3.2-liter TDCi Puma engine with 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. Most of the parts are custom made or from higher spec Defender parts.

“The idea behind this project is the spirit of the Defender and its adaptable versions for alternative needs,” Yıldız explained. “Of course my favourite feature is that it is a Defender.”

Overlanding is taking over the off-road world by storm all over the world. We are seeing more people get out and enjoy the great outdoors off the beaten tracks. Having a capable vehicle is just the first step in having a great time.

It is not just hard core adventurers any longer but families and groups of like minded people, whether it be driving holidays or short recreational weekends fishing or shooting. If you have the right vehicle the world is your oyster, and black top road and hotels are no longer required.

“This camper is used to go for fishing, hunting, camping, boat towing, and similar outdoor events,” Yıldız said. In Anatolia, Turkey it is a rough landscape and the Defender copes well in every situation. This camper combines the capability of a Defender and comforts of a luxury caravan.”

The vehicle only recently has been completed, but they are looking to possibly build a 6×6 Defender next.
