Terradyne are specialists in armoured personnel carriers and light tactical vehicles sold to government agencies, police swat units and security services requiring fast mobile units for violent situations.
The Gurkha is available in three configurations; the RPV (Rapid Patrol Vehicle), MPV (Multi-purpose Patrol Vehicle), and the LAPV (Light Armoured Patrol Vehicle). All variants of the units have been tested and approved to full ballistic and destructive blast testing to military standards. The RPV is the model that will be available to the civilian market said a company spokesman, and it will be fully road legal for the street.

The RPV has a crew cab pick-up style body with four doors, the seating layout is as you would expect, three to the rear and two up front.
The civilian version comes with reduced armour for better fuel economy, improved off road handling and improved acceleration with a selection of creature comforts such as cruise control, sat nav, audio system, central locking and full LED lighting.
The truck is based on the Ford F550 commercial truck chassis that has been terradyne-gurkha-tactical-vehiclestrengthened by Terradyne, power comes from the 6.7 litre Ford diesel power-stroke engine, giving out 300bhp at 2,800 rpm which is put to the floor through a six speed auto box with an on the move selectable 4×4 system with limited slip diffs on both axles at a ratio of 4.88.1
Custom Fox Shocks are fitted to each corner with HD coil springs and to hold it all straight at speed, a steering damper has also been added.
An integrated winch and bumper are optional extras with a selection of other items that can be requested upon ordering.
The given fuel consumption is around 10.4 mpg, not the most economic diesel in a 4×4, but with that armour and it’s sheer size you will have to pay the price at the pumps.
