We all have aspirations and dreams, it’s what keeps us motivated and as we pack for this summers get aways’ our minds drift to the vehicle we’d really like to be loading. We stumbled across an Action-Mobil on a European service station and after exploring the outside we just knew it needed further investigation.
The company is Austrian, based on the fringe of a National Park and with its windows looking up at the vast mountains beyond it easy to see what influences their capable designs.
Their range of motorhomes are built to suit all tastes from basic needs to to the like of a luxury apartment, always with the focus on quality to cope with the extreme whilst traveling the remote.
For nearly forty years Action Mobil has been pushing the boundaries of the all wheel drive mobile home with a custom build department constantly renewing the level of innovation.
Recognising all adventurers’ requirements are different they build a vast choice of motorhomes in 2, 3 and 4 axel variants. Varying lengths are available from 3.8 to 12 metres; with an additional optional electronic systems to lower the body height for those low mountain passes. I’m guessing a shopping market barrier is the only obstacle not passable judging by the one we were entranced by, but these things are designed to disappear into the middle of nowhere and I’m sure Lord Lucan is still enjoying his.
With so much choice we picked the popular 540 HP Atacama 6300 4×4 Camper built on a MAN chassis to focus on. It has a total length of 8.8 meters with a body length of 6.3 meters and width of 2.47 meters excluding any optional slide outs. Standard height 3.85 meters but again this is negotiable depending on the customer, shorter, taller or a pop up roof. The Atacama 6300 weighs in at 14 tons with a 5-ton payload, able to carry 600 litres of fuel, 700 ltrs of fresh water, 170 ltrs of wastewater with 3 x 17 ltr toilet cassettes and still enough room for all those shoes. The dust free garage is slotted into the rear bottom, big enough for a motorbike on a hydraulic lift or a couple of mountain bikes that slide out on a tray. 960 watt solar panels are fitted to ensure batteries are charged and all mod cons are working like under floor heating, hot water and air-conditioning. The fridge is a generous 175 ltr as is the custom ‘extreme’ insulated freezer so no need to find civilisation until you’re ready, they have even fitted a washer-dryer, steamer microwave and 4-plate induction hob.
Bespoke decorated interiors have storage nooks and crannies everywhere to hold everything in place so you only have to worry about your route across any rough terrain with no concerns of smashing your crockery or coffee machine. There is even a satellite system to ensure you know where you are on the planet plus contact with the outside world is possible, you wouldn’t want to miss Coronation Street now would you.
This is definitely one truck going on the Lottery wish list, now do I cross the Earthroamer off the list or just plan a bigger garage for both …
