October the 18th sees the final of the 2015 Odyssey Championship Event at Weekly Woods, near Kettering. Sponsored by Gigglepin Winch.Com it’s bound to be a crowd pleaser as man and machine compete against nature and those demon course plotters from the Viking Four Wheel Drive Club. If you like loads of mud and action get down to the woods this weekend for what promises to be an excellent final.
James Ayre from AT Racing (car 181) tells us about round 5 from the driving seat.
What a Day at Round 5 of the Odyssey battery series.
The site was brilliant, not too large or damaging, but with well thought out technical sections that you had to get your head around.
The truck was brilliant all day, with the Gigglepin Winches pulling like trains all day! with the only problems being smashing BOTH track rod ends at the same time and bending the track rod like a banana when I decided I should be a lumberjack! (Luckily I carry spares) and a wire came off the starter.
There were a few recoveries that we helped with through out the day, especially when Jake rolled completely onto his roof!
A manual diesel is definitely a different driving style to V8 Auto, but I’ve got to say, I LOVE IT.
We pushed hard all day, with poor old dad sliding all over the place, but brilliantly managed to get a second card! which is a first for me.
We knew the scores at the end would be close, and at the end Chris Booth and Dan Thomas beat us to second place by less than a red punch! and then there’s Duncan Smith and Henry Papworth, who incredibly got a 3rd card! Absolute machines! Well done lads!
Thank you to the organising team for putting on another great event! and to Heritage Insurance for sponsoring the round.
I can’t wait for round 6 at Weekly Woods
Hydro steer is definitely in order …
We wait for next weekend to see what the race has to throw at competitors, we’re sure no one will be disappointed …
